DAY 15 Zero Waste Challenge: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

When talking about recycling, most people already know about the holy trinity of zero waste recycling. Which is the 3 R's:  REDUCE, REUSE & RECYCLE

The first one is reduce, something than can get really challenging if we don't learn how can be done properly. Learning the habit of buying things in smaller amounts or the ones that can have a second life after they had been used once can be challenging and fun at the same time. You can also find alternatives for some products. Fore example, instead of buying ten different cleaning solutions you can get an all purpose cleaner, it will help you reduce waste and costs.

Reusing might not the easiest thing to do, since many things we usually throw away can be reused under other form or for other purposes. For that checking Pinterest can be helpful in giving you ideas and insights from the DIY world. You will learn quickly that pretty much anything you have around the house can be reused. Sometimes even what seemed to be only good for trash can be transformed into a useful craft, or object.

Recycling is not always easy and it can get really confusing at times. From not being sure what can be recycled to how you can do it more efficient, it sure can get tricky. Recycling clothes to H&M gives you 10% discount for the next purchase. Recycling clothes can also be selling them in market or doing a clothing swap between friends or family. From old clothes one can make rugs, old tires can be up-cycled into a coffee table.

For a more detailed information on how to follow these 3 R's I found this lovely article, that you can read in just a few minutes.

Challenge:

Learn about the 3 R's and try to apply them in your day to day activities.
