DAY 3 Zero Waste Challenge: Farmers' Market

Doing your groceries at a Farmers' market not only benefits you, but also the small family businesses and the individual farmers out there. You won't find better and healthier products in the stores than in a farmers market.
The most magical part of the place are the friendly and warm faces that greet you as you start your cruise between the food stalls.

We all want to feel and be healthy, yet our diets rarely reflect that. We bring home from supermarkets toxic vegetables, bread, dairy products and other produce without thinking about how much plastic each item is covered in. Most people don't really know how a healthy product should look or smell like, usually getting the ones that aesthetically pleases them. And it's not their fault, as supermarkets portray the vegetables being shiny and perfect. By going to a farmers market you will have a better understanding of how an organic veggie smells and looks like, plus, you can always kindly ask to have a bite before buying them.

The Challenge:

Now, I want to challenge you to find a farmers market near you and give it a try, not only you will have a healthier diet but you might save some money as well. Ask the farmers how did they grow their products, some may be organic but not have the certificate. Be friendly and smile. And if by chance you don't have any farmers market around you, a supermarket would do just fine. Try to avoid the plastic wrapped vegetables. Don't forget to bring your own bags for fruits, bread and the overall groceries. Also going on foot or by bike should be a priority.
